A very common problem these days is VMU storage. Chances are that you have quite a few of these so-called "Visual Memory Units" lying around with no proper place to store them. It is quite the conundrum isn't it? Well fear not! I'm here today to provide you with a solution! And a free one at that! Yes indeed, this month's prize is a 3D-printed VMU holder! This fantastic little plastic box-like thing, designed by yours truly, is the solution to all your VMU storage problems! It holds up to 10 VMUs and/or memory cards and allows you to organize them in any fashion you like. It also looks great; especially with an assortment of colored VMUs!

If you'd like to enter for a chance to win, simply leave a comment below and make sure you include a valid email address in the "Email Id" box. Just for fun, let me know how many VMUs you currently own. The winner will be chosen one week from today (December 17th). Good luck!

Update: The winner has been chosen! Congratulations to Michael!

Could you share the 3D model? I'd love to print my own. :D

I have way too many of the darn thing...18 to be precise, and that's not including 3rd party memory cards, lol.

3 loose and 2 boxed with one never used. They would sit nicely in a 3D printed VMU holder though.. ;) Thanks..

I currently don't own any VMU's at the moment but hopefully I'll win one with my Sega Dreamcast I recently bought. Playing the Dreamcast again is so much fun!

I have 2 VMUs, one white & one black.

I'll put my hat in the ring to win one of these VMU holders, I'm not exactly sure how many VMU's I own, I've decked out all my controller sets (Astropads, transparent Astropads, etc, etc.) with matching colors and have some of the Point Bank ones as well. My most used VMU is a transparent skeleton backlit one (modified by Chris in Greece) paired with an orange Japanese Chu Chu Rocket standard controller. I use 4x memory VMU's in port 4 of my DC's to save games, so I have a few of those as well, I just leave those plugged in.

I think I own just about every color VMU that was available (to match the controllers in the US)... even the rare US yellow version and a couple of Clear Japanese VMUs. Multiple VMUs as well as a couple of 4x models. I probably have a good 15+ VMUs total. I could definitely use one of these and would be proud to win and display it on top of my US Dreamcast Kiosk for all to see! :)

I own like 5 myself. That would be something that I would be able to use myself.

I have 6 of them and one of them dose not work . Will good luck guys

I currently own 2 VMUs, and am on the hunt for the 4x memory card! This would be pretty sweet to throw those into.

I own eight Dreamcast memory cards if you count the official VMU's and the GameShark.

If you make a "revision two" of , could you make the outside walls higher to protect the VMU screens from dust? I know it is a small thing, but that would make maintenance nicer and it would make the VMU's sit even more stably. Heck, add a sweet recessed swirl to the bottom or an embossed swirl to the front. :-D

By the way, how's this for an idea for a future giveaway: a collection of VMU caps printed in the winner's choice of colors. The world needs more VMU caps - too many have "disappeared" over the years. ;-)

I have 5!

I have 13 VMUs total

Why did Sega never create one of these? Out of all the other random crap they made for the Dreamcast like the fishing controller, MIDI cable, Samba de Amigo maracas, this would probably be the most convenient thing. I do only have 3 VMUs (technically 4, I have a third party memory card) , but they still get in the way of other things I keep in my gaming space, not to mention I'll have to get more in the future.

I've got nine VMUs !!! 0mG

Posted on : December 10, 2017

Wow that thing would be so useful to have lol. I currently have 12 vmu's so you can imagine things can get a little messy:D

Posted on : December 10, 2017

I require one of these vmu holders! I have 8 VMUs including the rare yellow vmu!

Shocked the VMU idea never caught on to other consoles. Really made good use of it in 2K sports and Resident Evil. I remember trying to download MP3's once. Awesome idea, but not enough memory and in 1999, they cost as much as a game and not included with the console. Today they still cost about as much as a Dreamcast game. LOL! A mini game console in their own, that was another example of Sega innovative genius at the time.
