A mere month after the revival of Ooga Booga, another online multiplayer game has been brought back to life thanks to Shuouma! This time it’s World Series Baseball 2K2. If you’re a fan of "America's Favorite Pastime", this is definitely one you’re going to want to try out. The game plays great online, although there is a delay when it comes to batting but you’ll adjust to it fairly quickly. Overall it’s a really fun experience and should really please sports fans. Shu and I played an epic first game on the new server. I didn't include the entire game in the announcement video but if you wish to watch the entire hour-long game, check out the video below. Without spoiling anything, there were some really exciting moments and a great...

Today is a momentous occasion and one I've been waiting for for a long time now! Wait for it.... Ooga Booga has been brought back online thanks to the one and only Shuouma! Speaking as someone who is probably the world's #1 Ooga Booga fan (I even have what is likely the only signed copy of the game by the original development team), this makes me extremely happy. Even though the game is fully playable offline, it's still amazing to be able to play it with Dreamcast fans across the globe. The frantic, boar-riding, shrunken-head-throwing, spell-casting, ridiculousness that is Ooga Booga is a treat to play online and can be absolute mayhem with 4 players. If your Dreamcast is online (as it should be), this is an absolute must-play game. Althou...

The great Shuouma has done it again! POD SpeedZone (or POD II if you're in PAL territories) has been resurrected from the online multiplayer graveyard! Having the online functionality restored for this game is fantastic as it was designed from the ground up with online multiplayer in mind. In fact, POD has little in the way of offline content. The single player "Arcade" mode is essentially nothing more than single practice races with no real objective. Going online is where the game really shines. Not only do you have access to more gameplay modes, but you also have an additional track and extra vehicles unlocked after jumping online for the first time. I guess you could say we can once again play POD SpeedZone in the way that Ubi...

Shuouma is back with another online game resurrected! This time it's Monaco Grand Prix Online (or Monaco Grand Prix: Racing Simulation 2: Online if you want the ridiculously long official title). This is a version of Monaco Grand Prix that was released exclusively in Europe and added online multiplayer. It's actually a very rare game so you may need to break out the CD-R spindle if you want to give this one a go.

The game features 17 tracks, two modes, and supports up to six players. The modes include both single race and championship. The latter will likely appeal most to hardcore fans of the game as it can take up to an hour to complete. The game also has online leaderboards so if competing for the fastest time on any given track is your t...

The amount of games that can be played online on our precious Dreamcasts has increased significantly over the last few years. This is due in large part to a man known as Jonas Karlsson, better known as Shuouma around most parts of the internet. Some may call him a magician but I think that may be selling him short. Shuouma is responsible for reviving four online games in just the last year; these games include ChuChu Rocket!, The Next Tetris, PBA Tour Bowling 2001, and Worms World Party. Not only that but he played a huge part in helping Petter3k with Alien Front Online and released improved and more stable servers for Planet Ring and Starlancer. I think it's safe to say that Dreamcast fans owe this man a huge thanks!

So who is Jonas Karlss...

Is there a better way to start off the new year than another online Dreamcast game being resurrected? Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Worms World Party is online once again thanks to the amazing Mr. Karlsson! Efforts to try and get this game back online have been going on for a long time now. Just getting to the game lobby proved to be fairly simple but actually being able to start a game was something else entirely. Fortunately we have a genius in out midst in the form of Shuouma who managed to finally track down the final piece of the puzzle. The game is now fully playable online and it's awesome! I must once again give a huge thanks to Jonas for reviving yet another piece of online gaming history! Who knows what the rest of 2017 wi...

Many of you have eagerly been awaiting this moment for over a year now and the highly anticipated moment has finally arrived! Ladies and gentlemen, Alien Front Online is back online! Petter3k was hoping to have the game back online sooner but due to being busy with non-AFO related real-life work, he wasn't able to dedicate as much time to the project as he had originally hoped. In order to get things moving quicker, he enlisted the help of Jonas Karlsson a.k.a. Shuouma to help with deploying the server and squashing some of the remaining bugs. The server is not bug-free however and is in an open beta phase. Petter plans to release the server software as open source once beta testing is over and everything is bug-free. If you wish to report ...

You may recall a post from earlier this year announcing that Toy Racer was now able to be played online via dial-up thanks to Luke Benstead and Jonas Karlsson who successfully reverse engineered the Dreamarena authentication software. Now in addition to Toy Racer, support for the PAL version of Quake III Arena has been added! This means players in Europe no longer have to purchase or burn a copy of the North American version to play online! While the PAL release still lacks support for the broadband adapter, it's still great to have the online functionality working once again.

DreamPi users will automatically connect to the correct server but everyone else will need to make sure their DNS server is set to 46.101.91.123. Once connected, choo...

Jonas Karlsson has released a new and improved server for Planet Ring! If you've ever played Planet Ring on the original private server then you'll know how buggy and unstable it can be. Jonas' version is much more stable and adds some new features that were not yet implemented into the 2013 server such as working leaderboards and 8-player support in Soar. The leaderboards are viewable in-game as well as right here on Dreamcast Live. The server software is still in a beta stage but Jonas' is actively monitoring it in order to spot and fix bugs. In the near future, Jonas also plans on partnering with Luke Benstead to implement software into DreamPi that will fix the in-game voice chat. Between this and the impending alien invasion, you'd be...
